CAUSES OF PAIN IN EYES
1. Corneal Disorder:
- The cornea is one of the most sensitive parts of our eye.
- People with corneal disorders may experience pain, watery eyes, or decreased vision.
- People with deep injury to the cornea may experience problems such as eye pain, redness, sensitivity to light, bulging of the eyes, nausea, etc.
- People experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned above should consult a doctor immediately, as it can be diagnosed after an eye examination.
- Once the cause is identified, doctors prescribe the necessary medicines to fight the infection.
2. Foreign Body:
- It refers to small particles of foreign objects such as wind, dust, nails, or makeup applicators. Once they are removed, it can cause scratches on the cornea.
- It can be removed by washing the eyes, but if you feel any kind of burning or pain in the eyes, consult a doctor immediately. Your doctor may recommend eye drops to keep your eyes healthy.
3. Corneal Abrasion:
- This occurs when a foreign object scratches your eyes or when contact lenses are used improperly.
- Corneal abrasion is usually not that serious, but in some cases, if it is not treated in time, it can even lead to infection.
4. Infections:
- This occurs due to severe abrasion or improper use of lenses. This can result in irritation of the eyes and surrounding areas, which can lead to swollen eyes, itching, or light sensitivity.
5. Dry Eye:
- This is a short-term problem usually caused by eye strain or dry windy weather.
- This can cause itching, burning, and pain in the eyes. If you are facing this kind of problem, then use eye drops prescribed by the doctor.
6. Glaucoma:
- This is an age-related eye problem that affects the optic nerves (responsible for moving things from the retina to the brain).
- This can cause severe vision loss or severe pain in the back of the eyes. Therefore, it is very important to show this problem to the doctor, otherwise, the patient may lose his entire vision.
7. Styes:
- Styes are pus-filled lumps that form near the eyelids.
- They are very painful and there is a burning sensation in the eyes on touching them.
- You can get relief from the pain for some time by placing a warm and washable cloth over the eye.
- If you are experiencing persistent pain and burning, consult an eye doctor for further advice.
8. Blepharitis:
- This is not a serious problem and does not require immediate consultation with the doctor. However, it causes pain in the eyelids and usually, this problem is caused by removing the makeup applied overnight.
9. Sinus Infection:
- This causes pain around the eyes and increases the pressure behind the eyes, causing severe pain in the eyes.
- Doctors prescribe some antibiotics as well as nasal sprays to treat this infection.
